PLC Programmer and Data Visualisation Specialist (d/f/m) Engineering/IT

Since 1919 the AKG Group is a specialist in the field of heat exchangers. Our group of compa-nies is financially sound, innovative and expanding. With about 3.300 employees at 14 locations in Europe, the Americas, and Asia we develop and produce heat exchangers for a multitude of application areas and branches.
AKG Thermotechnik in Latvia is based in Jelgava, near the capital Riga. With around 350 employees, standard and OEM radiators made of aluminum have been manufactured for local and international customers in areas such as compressors, automotive and construction machin-ery since 2005.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Siemens PLC programs for industrial automation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements and integrate PLC programming with overall system designs.
  • Implement data collection strategies from PLC systems to capture critical operational data.
  • Analyze and process collected data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for sys¬tem optimization.
  • Develop and maintain digital dashboards for real-time data visualization, ensuring clear and actionable information is presented to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the IT department to ensure seamless data flow between PLC systems and data storage/visualization platforms.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for PLC programming and data visualization issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and methodologies in PLC programming, data processing, and visualization to continuously improve existing system performance.

Job Qualifications

  • University degree in mechatronics, electric engineering or IT.
  • Deep knowledge of Siemens S7 Tia Portal PLC programming, practical work experience in Siemens PLC programming of at least 5 years.
  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 digitalisation workflow starting from PLC data collection, struc-turing and upload into databases following by analysis with visualisation tools Power BI, Excel Power Queries or other software.
  • Ability for hands on building of electrical wiring, connection and calibration of sensors, drawing or upgrade electrical wiring plans using Eplan.
  • Methodical skills and practical experience in root cause finding and improving of existing sys-tems.
  • Long term interest for living in Latvia, willingness to learn Latvian language.
  • Excellent knowledge of English language, Latvian language skills or willingness to acquire those.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
