Angelique, what makes working at AKG special for you?
Working at AKG is defined by variety, responsibility, and continuous learning. My daily work is challenging, but exactly that is what motivates me. I am particularly inspired by the interdisciplinary collaboration and the close cooperation with our customers. From the first concept and design through prototyping all the way to final production, I am involved in the entire development process. Seeing a finished product that I helped bring to life is incredibly rewarding.
On top of that, AKG’s global network makes the work even more exciting. The exchange with international colleagues and customers allows me to gain new perspectives and continuously expand my knowledge.
Have you had the opportunity to travel abroad for AKG?
Yes – and these international experiences have been some of the highlights of my career. I visited several of our production sites in the USA, China, and Latvia. During my time in Mebane (USA), I spent several weeks training colleagues on transformer oil cooling systems. In addition, I took part in customer visits in Austria, Finland, France, the USA, and China.
Especially during my trainee program in the United States, I built strong professional connections and friendships that have lasted to this day. These experiences strengthened both my technical expertise and my intercultural skills.
Which applications do you mainly work on?
My primary focus is the development and engineering of complex cooling systems and heat exchanger solutions for the wind energy sector. I work closely with our internal teams at AKG as well as directly with customers and suppliers.
Through system engineering, I am involved in the technical design, optimisation and coordination of highly demanding projects. What makes these projects so exciting is the teamwork and the deep experience of my colleagues – many of whom have been with AKG for several years. This wealth of knowledge is one of the company’s greatest strengths.
Is it motivating to contribute to the energy transition?
Absolutely. Knowing that the products we develop actively support the global energy transition is a huge motivation for me. The cooling systems we design for wind turbines are built to withstand extreme environmental conditions and play an important role in making renewable energy more efficient and reliable.
What does the North Hesse / Hofgeismar region mean to you?
North Hesse is my home. This is where I grew up, where my family and friends live, and where I feel most comfortable. Hofgeismar is surrounded by beautiful nature and is also a popular destination for visitors.
At the same time, the nearby city of Kassel – with its university and young population – brings a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere to the region. Living and working here gives me the perfect balance between nature, community and professional opportunities.
What distinguishes AKG from other family-owned companies?
AKG is a family-owned company, and you can really feel that – in a positive way. Flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths and direct communication make collaboration efficient and pleasant, especially in Sales & Engineering. Of course, some processes take time, but overall I truly appreciate the structured, efficient and respectful way of working at AKG.
This combination of tradition, innovation and teamwork is what really sets the AKG Group apart.
